Florida Holiday Villas - a cheaper alternative to hotels

With the wide range of villas and apartments on offer within Florida, choosing the right holiday let for you and your family can be a pleasure in itself. The type of accommodation you book will of course depend on what you want to get out of your holiday. If you`re a group of friends interested in staying close to the beach and within walking distance of the local nightlife, you will probably decide to opt for a basic functional beachfront apartment central to the resort. If on the other hand you`re the independent type with plans to explore, you may prefer to hire a car and choose a base some distance from the tourist hotspots, perhaps a vacation villa in the mountains or an apartment within a remote village. If you have children, this may not be the best choice, and it pays to research the area in advance to make sure there are plenty of things to do nearby – to keep them occupied on those long summer days.

Of course, if you`re renting a privately owned Florida property, you`ll need to be mindful of the responsibilities you`re taking on, in terms of keeping the property clean and repairing any damage or breakages that might happen during your stay. Follow the landlord`s advice in keeping doors and grilles locked for your own safety. If you`re renting a villa with a private pool, safety is paramount and you will take on the responsibility of safe usage at all times, which means supervising young children and refraining from diving or running. You will usually be asked to sign a document which confirms that you have understood your responsibilities and taken out the appropriate personal accident insurance, should the worst happen whilst occupying the property.

If you are looking for late availability in Florida, and are prepared to go last minute, then try searching for last minute late deals. This can be a great way to find an even cheaper vacation rental property at a destination that you may have not considered before.

Visit Holidays to Florida for more great deals, tips and advice to make the most of your Florida cruising holiday.
Cruise lines like to remind us that "Seasons greetings" is a phrase that always begins with "seas." And the lines do go overboard with festivities to celebrate the holidays --from Thanksgiving to Hanukkah to Christmas to New Year's -- serving up traditional feasts with all the trimmings, boasting festive holiday decorations, and featuring entertainment themed to the season.

The MSC Poesia sails out of Port Everglades for five months starting in November 2011.

Here are some holiday sailings on tap for the season that either begin or end in Florida ports. Arranged by cruise line category, the fares listed are the ones we found on the lines' websites at the time of writing. Fares are always subject to availability and subject to change without notice. Ask if there are specials and/or offers such as onboard credits when you are ready to book.
